Metro de Madrid, with more than a century of history, works in the research, recovery, conservation and dissemination of its rich historical legacy. In this sense, Metro has been recovering an important part of its disused heritage, both of a real estate nature (Chamberí Station, Engine Shed, Pacific Lobby, etc.) and movable (classic trains, historical advertising, etc.), creating a sort of "dispersed museum" through which it disseminates its history and enhances the role that Metro has played and continues to play in the development and prosperity of the society it serves. In addition to this legacy are the archaeological remains that have come to light during successive Metro expansion and improvement works, such as the archaeological remains of Los Caños del Peral.
At the same time, progress is being made in the "Virtual Museum" through the digital recovery of the Historical Heritage of the Madrid suburban area, making intensive use of new technologies. After an exhaustive historiographic research work, we are working on the virtual restitution of the disappeared, transformed or unborn reality by means of high impact techniques, which serves as a basis for the work of recovering the heritage to its original appearance. It also allows the creation of immersive experiences that transport visitors to the past and serve as a new vehicle for the dissemination of the history of the metropolitan and the environment in which it developed. The historical simulator is one of its best known exponents. Metro completes its offer of guided visits to its museums with an extensive cultural activity consisting of exhibitions, concerts, workshops and all kinds of cultural events.
