After the success achieved by El Transcantábrico in its first years, in 2000 a twin sister was built, which at that time was being refurbished, and was renamed El Transcantábrico II. In 2011, El Transcantábrico I, which opened in 1983 and was refurbished in 2000, was completely remodeled, giving rise to El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo. On the other hand, El Transcantábrico II changes its name to El Transcantábrico Clásico, a name that will last until 2022, when it will be renamed Costa Verde Express, with a new shorter route and new colors.
