Chamartín Historical Trains Exhibition

Chamartín Historical Trains Exhibition

OUR Heritage
Metro de Madrid

Chamartín metro station is hosting an exhibition of classic Metro de Madrid trains that have been fully restored to celebrate the Company’s Centenary. There are 12 cars that allow a tour of the main milestones in terms of rolling stock, from its origins to the 1960s, although some of these cars were in service until 1991.

Despite the differences between the successive series of classic cars, named after the stations they served, they all shared the same basic technology: all-metal bodies, General Electric traction equipment, Westinghouse braking equipment, General Electric or Westinghouse traction motors, etc.

Along with these trains, the main protagonists of the exhibition, you can see about 100 elements of the subway and evocative images of a past time that today is rescued and that makes possible the journey to the modern subway of today.

As the museum is part of the Metro network, a ticket is required to access the Museum.

Metro Museums. Exhibition of Chamartín’s Historic Trains
Estación de Chamartín (líneas 1 y 10). Calle Agustín de Foxá s/n. 28036 Madrid, Madrid

METRO DE MADRID, a century-old company, has been recovering an important part of its historical heritage, creating a sort of "dispersed museum" through which it has been disseminating its history since its inauguration in 1G1G.

The suburban museums are spaces of unquestionable historical value, designed, among others, by the famous architect Antonio Palacios. Chamberí Station, Nave de Motores and Vestíbulo de Pacífico are some of its exponents. It also has a permanent exhibition of the first classic trains that ran on the metropolitan network.

In addition to this legacy are the archaeological remains found in the works of the subway at the Ópera station and musealized as Los Caños del Peral.

Feelings to live and touch in a singular journey through how much we are.
